I and a great team have been months planning a second charity dinner in the beautiful Hunter Valley Vineyards. We have been able to secure many sponsors including an incredible new venue called “The Hangar”, that boasts fighter jets, tiger moths and old war planes. (See some photos http://www.professionalphotographer.com.au/clients/The_Hangar/Gallery2/ ). I also have many other great sponsors, event managers, AV, catering and a small army of volunteers.

I have been holding off on securing a date depending on a guest act for the evening.  I knew in my gut that U2 would tour this year or next, I just knew it. I have been waiting for the moment to invite them.

I am going to contact the band and ask the guys if they could find some time in their busy schedule to help out a truly worthy cause. I know they would be asked a lot to do things for charity but I am going to go out on a limb and ask as well because I really believe in the cause and I know the band will too and that they are all very generous.

Here is a brief of the event.

Why a fundraiser: To support some of the most vulnerable children and prevent premature death, secure good health, and enable positive early child development.
Who I am raising funds for: Compassion Australia (http://www.compassion.com.au) in particular their Child Survival Program ( http://www.compassion.com.au/cmspage.php?intid=260)
When: Stay tuned (when ever the band could fit me in).
Media: I know this event would worthwhile doing just on its own merits but it would also be great to generate some noise for the band to help promote their up coming 360° tour. We might even try to get Adam, Larry or The Edge up in a jet and do a 360 barrel roll with http://www.airaction.com.au/

The ceremony was at Christian Outreach Centre Port Stephens. We then went to Kingsley Beach, Boat Harbour for photos, then into Newcastle for more photos (Civic Park, Fred Ash Building and up the top of King Edward Park).

It was a pleasure to photograph their day and capture so many great shots.

Congratulations to Jack & Christina!

I would also like to take this opportunity and pass on a big thanks to Steve and sarah who ran the business for us while we were away in Africa.

It has been great ot be away and spend some time with our new son Abenet, being a dad has to be the best job in the world.

Any way were back into the swing of things, lots of photo shot during school holidays.

That’s what 5 ladies from Denman did last weekend. They came into our Imageworld Photography Studio to have glamour makeovers. Setting out early Saturday morning, they drove down the valley from Denman for a weekend away. Sisters, blisters and sisters-in-law. Bags packed with fav jewellery, clothes, champaigne and nibbles.

I walked them down to Sekt Hair & Beauty where transformations gradually and deliciously took place. When I picked them up (did I recognise them?) they were all done; looking their gorgeous best, ready for our photographers.

The attention turned on Cheryl, Sue, Helen, Lyn and Tracey – a little nerve racking but lots of fun all the same. To calm and centre them Rachel and I gave soothing hand massages with a little nail colour if needed. When studio action arrived; clicking, flashlights and mood music, the sisters from Denman came armed with great ideas: black & white tops for group shots, white tops & blue jeans for lounging about and laughing in, sunnies topped with men’s white business shirts all in a row, and of course, lets not forget to do the individual glamour photos.

In between changes of clothes, makeup checks, jewellery swaps, grazing on champaigne and nibbles, the day was punctuated with unwinding and celebration of being unique, and being women and this journey called life.

I heard the weekend didn’t stop there. Hey I’d do it all again just to bear witness and help make it all come together for them……..
